GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Gas prices in the Greenville area fell 7.6 cents during the past week, according to GasBuddy.com.
The price-tracking website reported Monday that the average cost for a gallon of gas in Greenville was at $3.43 - 27 cents below the national average.
Locally, the price was 14.7 cents higher than a month ago, but 8.4 cents lower than a year ago. Nationally, the price was 21.6 cents more than last month, but less than a penny lower than last year.
Experts said the slip in prices will likely continue this week.
"Gasoline prices have continued to remain relatively stable in the last week, falling a few cents per gallon, providing well-needed relief to motorists," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "Perhaps more noteworthy, however, is the fact that current average gasoline prices have now fallen under their year ago levels.
AAA reported the average cost for a gallon of gas was at $3.55 in South Carolina, $3.74 in North Carolina and $3.69 in Georgia.
Hawaii had the nation's most expensive gas, while Wyoming had the cheapest, according to GasBuddy.com.
