Deputies say these men cashed stolen checks at banks in Columbus, Hendersonville and Asheville. (Polk Co. Sheriff's Office)
COLUMBUS, NC (FOX Carolina) -
Investigators said they are looking for three men who stole blank checks from a business and then cashed them at area banks.
Polk County deputies said about 50 checks were stolen from All Bright Sanitation in Columbus during the past week. They said the checks then started turning up at banks in Columbus, Hendersonville and Asheville.
Investigators said three men seen in surveillance video used fake identification cards to cash about $20,000 worth of the checks. They said a teller eventually became suspicious and placed a hold on the account, and then notified both law enforcement and the business.
Anyone with information about the thefts of the men seen in the surveillance camera images was asked to call the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 828-894-3001.
