GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A fire at a Greenville County apartment complex damaged several units Wednesday night.
The fire happened just after 8:30 p.m. at the Crescent Landing Apartments at 1008 White Horse Rd. Brian Scoles, spokesman for the American Red Cross, said it appears eight units were affected by the blaze.
He said a few of those units are a total loss.
In an effort to help the families, Scoles said the American Red Cross has placed all eight families in temporary housing. They are also being provided assistance to purchase food, as well as health services assistance.
No injuries were reported, but residents say it was a scary experience.
According to Eboni Poellnitz the fire appeared to come from "out of nowhere." She said, "there was a huge fire and it seemed like it just spread like within seconds from one part of the roof to the other part of the roof."
Firefighters had extinguished the fire by the time FOX Carolina arrived at the scene. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
