Police: Anderson chase ends in woods, driver's arrest

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson police said they tried to stop a stolen car but the driver fled, leading them and other law enforcement officers on a chase Thursday.

Lt. Tony Tilley, spokesman for the Anderson Police Department, said an officer tried to pull over a car near Miracle Mile Drive and Clemson Boulevard because it was reported stolen, but the driver fled.

Tilley said the driver dropped off a female passenger at a nearby Citgo gas station before continuing to flee north into the county.

He said the chase went on for a while toward Centerville and Dixon roads, where the male passenger exited the car. After a while, the chase returned to Anderson, Tilley said.

Eventually troopers performed a pit maneuver along Clemson Boulevard, sending the car into the woods across the street from Northlake Condominiums, according to Tilley.

He said the driver was taken into custody and likely faces several charges in connection with the chase in the city and county.
