(RNN) - International issues captured our attention this week after Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez died from a heart attack. Chavez, 58, was in poor health and had only returned to Venezuela last month after spending more than two months in Cuba for medical treatment.

Cardinals from around the world gathered at the Vatican in preparation for the Papal Conclave. A total of 115 cardinals will decide who assumes the Papacy.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests introduced a list of Papal candidates it believes would prevent effective progress in solving clergy sexual molestation scandals.

Republicans made a stand on Capitol Hill after expressing their concerns about John Brennan's confirmation as CIA director. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) filibustered on the Senate floor for almost 13 hours in protest of Brennan's confirmation and domestic drone usage.

Markets across the board continued to climb, with the Dow Jones showing some of the most impressive climbs in history. The Dow gained more than 125 point on Tuesday alone.

The Transportation Security Administration announced it will change its airport carry-on policy to allow for small knives, souvenir baseball bats, golf clubs and other items that were banned after 9/11. The new policy goes into effect on April 25.
