SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

More than 20 people are scheduled to say farewell to their hair Saturday afternoon to support the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a charity raising money for childhood cancer research.

The Croft Fire Department in Spartanburg will host the "Shave to Save" event starting at 10 a.m., and the event coordinator Rachel Smith hopes to raise well past her fundraising goal of $5,000.

"There will be tons to do all day long for our big event," Smith said. "Not only can you cheer on the people who are being shaved, but you can enjoy great food and a big silent auction full of great stuff."

The St. Baldrick's Foundation has raised millions of dollars for defeating cancer in babies, children and young adults.
