Thousands of dollars were seized and a man was arrested during a traffic stop in Union County last week.

According to an incident report from the Union County Sheriff's Office, deputies were patrolling a parking lot March 6, when the driver of a vehicle spun its tires and tried to flee the lot at a very high speed. Deputies stopped the vehicle at an exit of the parking lot and arrested 37-year-old Ernest Jeter, of Union.

A search of Jeter's car turned up $35,153 in currency under the two front seats, according to the report. The report said digital scales were also found in the Jeter's vehicle, which were covered in a residue that tested positive for cocaine. The report said an open bottle of beer was also found in the vehicle.

Jeter was charged with reckless driving, open container and possession of cocaine.
