Amanda Rodriguez (Buncombe Co. Sheriff's Office)
ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
An Asheville woman was accused of animal cruelty after two puppies in need of medical care were dropped off at a local shelter, according to deputies.
Buncombe County deputies said Amanda Rodriguez was charged with felony cruelty to animals and one count of misdemeanor cruelty to animals in February.
Deputies said they were called to Rodriguez's home on Feb. 16 after she surrendered two puppies at a local shelter in need of immediate help.
While at her home, deputies said they found an older Pit Bull also in need of help. They took the dog to the shelter for food and care, deputies said.
