Deputies say these men cashed stolen checks at banks in Columbus, Hendersonville and Asheville. (Polk Co. Sheriff's Office)
COLUMBUS, NC (FOX Carolina) -
A business is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of three men who cashed $20,000 in checks stolen from the business.
Polk County deputies said on March 5 that about 50 checks were stolen from All Bright Sanitation in Columbus the week before. They said the checks then started turning up at banks in Columbus, Hendersonville and Asheville.
Investigators said three men seen in surveillance video used fake identification cards to cash the checks. They said a teller eventually became suspicious and placed a hold on the account, and then notified both law enforcement and the business.
On Tuesday, deputies said the sanitation business posted a reward in connection with the case.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 828-894-3001.
