GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies are investigating a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a hotel off Wade Hampton Boulevard.

Deputies said they were called to the Savannah Suites just after 11 p.m. Tuesday. Coroner Mike Ellis said a man in his late 20s was shot inside his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said a security guard employed by the hotel responded to the parking lot about a disturbance and at some point, fired at least one shot at the car hitting the victim.

Coroner Mike Ellis identified the victim as 28-year-old Ledrekius Sloan of Greenville. He said Sloan died from a single gunshot wound to the chest and has ruled his death a homicide.

The coroner said there was no threat to the community and a person involved in the shooting was taken from the scene.

So far, deputies have not released any information about charges filed in the case.
