CLINTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
On Thursday the Laurens County Health Care System opened a brand new Emergency Department at their hospital in Clinton.
The new facility is nearly three times the size of the previous one, offering 19 individual treatment rooms, with solid walls and doors for patient privacy.
In addition to general treatment rooms, the new, bigger facility will offer specialty treatment areas including trauma treatment rooms, pediatric resuscitation rooms, dedicated decontamination rooms, OBGYN and sexual trauma rooms and an area for mental health patients.
New state-of-the-art equipment has also been implemented which digitalizes patient information.
Officials said the new facility will help increase the efficiency and quality of care, as well as significantly speed up ED wait times.
"Our expectation is that we will be able to treat people faster. Get them in and out of the ER and take care of their emergencies efficiently," said President and CEO Rich D'Alberto.
There is also a new entrance for outpatient care.
Later this month the Laurens County Health Care System also plans to open their Women's Health Center, offering state-of-the-art birthing and recovery health services.
