GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The jackpot for Saturday night's Powerball jackpot stands at $216 million - the second top prize in the game to top $200 million this year.
For a chance to become a multi-millionaire, players must buy their tickets by 9:59 p.m. Saturday. The drawing will air live on FOX Carolina an hour later.
The last time South Carolina sold a jackpot-winning ticket was August 2009, when Solomon Jackson Jr. won $259 million.
Last Saturday, a Myrtle Beach couple won $2 million thanks to the Power Play option, which doubled their winnings.
"We hope a South Carolinian will be the one to stop this jackpot run," said South Carolina Education Lottery Director Paula Harper Bethea.
Bethea said she wants everyone to have fun playing the lottery, but to do so responsibly.
The odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 176 million.
