HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A small plane crashed into a hangar at the Hendersonville Airport on Friday afternoon.

Holly Baker, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said the Cessna 172 crashed at 3:55 p.m.

Capt. Steve Carter, of the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, said only the pilot was aboard the plane when it landed on the hangar, crashing through the roof. He said the pilot suffered minor injuries.

Carter said the plane leaked fuel after the crash, but the leak has been stopped.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been called to the scene to investigate the crash, Carter said.

Carter said crews are working to remove the plane from the building.

The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
