GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A Gastonia man riding a four-wheeler in Cherokee County on Saturday died after the all-terrain vehicle crashed.
Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said 38-year-old Jonathan Stroupe lost control of the vehicle along Wolf Den Road, a few miles north of Gaffney, about 4 p.m.
Fowler said Stroupe did not have on a helmet and was driving fast when he lost control of the vehicle, running off the left side of the road. He said Stroupe went airborne and flipped backwards, throwing him off the vehicle and head first into a tree.
A passenger who was riding with Stroupe was injured and airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment, according to the coroner.
Fowler said Stroupe died from blunt force head trauma, ruling his death accidental.
