LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - New road construction is now underway along the Gene Snyder Freeway both directions between La Grange Rd. (KY-146) and Interstate 71. Crews will be doing concrete repairs to lengthen the life of the section of roadway.
Some sections of pavement, which have settled over time, will be replaced entirely. There will also be crews working on some of the ramps in the area including the ramps at La Grange Rd. And Westport Road.
Expect traffic to be taken down to one lane in each direction during weeknights from 8:00p.m. Until 6:00 a.m. The following morning. On weekends, lane and ramp closures will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. Friday until approximately 6:00 a.m. On Monday. The speed limit in the construction zone has been reduced to 55 MPH and speeders could face double fines.
Hall Contracting, Inc. was awarded the contract for this project in the amount of $5.9 million. As part of this contract, all work on I-265 north of KY 22 must be completed by June 3, 2013 to avoid conflicts with construction of the east end crossing for the Louisville Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project. The remainder of the work is scheduled for completion by August 1, 2013.
