GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Gas prices in the Greenville area fell 2.1 cents during the past week, according to GasBuddy.com.
The price-tracking website reported Monday that the average cost for a gallon of gas in the Greenville area was at $3.37 - 28 cents below the national average.
Locally, the price was 13.3 cents lower than last month and 18 cents lower than last year. Nationally, the price was 4.1 cents less than last month and 15 cents less than last year.
"The national average has seemingly found some relative stability in the last week," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "And while the national average hasn't seen much movement, some areas of the country have seen volatility continue, mainly in the Great Lakes states where prices may again be poised to rise in the next couple of days as wholesale prices reverberate as refineries continue their maintenance schedules and the progressive switch over to summer gasoline continues."
AAA reported the average cost for a gallon of gas was at $3.47 in South Carolina, $3.68 in North Carolina and $3.57 in Georgia.
Hawaii had the most expensive gas in the nation, while Wyoming had the cheapest, according to GasBuddy.com.
