GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Greer police shot a man after they responded to a domestic disturbance Monday night.
The shooting happened about 7 p.m. at 204 Pleasant Oak Court.
According to an incident report from the Greer Police Department, four officers responded to the home after the man's wife said he threatened to shoot her. The woman told police that she had arrived to pick up her belongings when the man conveyed the threat, according to the report
The report said the man's wife told police that there were several pistols and a shotgun in the house.
Greer police Lt. Jim Holcombe said two officers opened fire on the man after he confronted them with a weapon.
Holcombe said the wounded man was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for treatment, where he was listed in critical condition.
The officers were placed on administrative leave, which is procedure after an officer-involved shooting, Holcombe said.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.
At this time, FOX Carolina has opted not to identify the man who was wounded since he has not been charged.
