GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Two unidentified items found in the yard of a home in south Greenville prompted an evacuation Tuesday evening.
Deputy Jonathan Smith, of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, said that about 5:15 p.m. someone reported finding objects that looked like pipe bombs in the yard of their home near the intersection of Donaldson Road and Farley Avenue.
Smith said deputies arrived and found two suspicious looking items, which he called galvanized pipes, laying in the yard. He said the bomb squad was called in and rendered the items safe.
The items will be sent to a lab for testing to determine if they were explosive devices, Smith said.
Smith said neighbors within a quarter mile of the scene were evacuated from their homes as a precaution.
