Victim in fire near ASU campus identified

BOONE, NC (WBTV) -

Firefighters pulled a body from the remains of an early morning apartment fire in Boone.

The Boone Fire Department responded to the fire around 4 a.m. Wednesday on the 500 block of Homespun Hills Road.

Firefighters arrived to find the building in flames. Once the flames were knocked down, firefighters found the body of 23-year-old Christopher Allen Brubaker.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The building is located less than a mile from Appalachian State University.
