GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Troopers are investigating a fatal crash that killed a Mauldin man and left a passenger uninjured in Greenville County Tuesday night.
The wreck happened along Hillside Church Road about 9:30 p.m.
Troopers said the car was headed north when it crossed to the other side, running off the road into a ditch. They said the car rolled over and hit several trees before coming to a stop.
Troopers said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
They said the passenger was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt.
Wright said 20-year-old Matthew Haussmann died after he lost control of the car, overcompensated, sliding off the road and into the trees. He said Haussmann died from blunt force trauma.
NOTE: Wright said that Haussmann was not thrown from the car. Troopers initially reported that he was ejected from the vehicle.
