FOUNTAIN INN, SC (FOX Carolina) -
At a ribbon-cutting at a plant in Fountain Inn on Wednesday, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called the Palmetto State the "it" place for manufacturing in the country.
Haley helped open the new Bosch Rexroth manufacturing facility in the southern Greenville County city. The new facility is part of an $80 million expansion project that will create 160 new jobs in the next five years. The expansion makes this facility the largest hydraulics production campus in the country.
Citing Bosch's new facility, Haley said it is becoming easier to attract business to South Carolina. She quoted Dan Rather who she said called the state the renaissance of manufacturing.
"To watch this expansion shows we're on the right track with manufacturing," Haley said. "The funnel is full, but when you get a good quality company like this that appreciates those that work for them, that tries to get the best quality project and takes care of their customers, South Carolina couldn't be more pleased."
Wednesday's grand opening also included a donation announcement. The company said its Bosch Community Fund made a significant donation to Greenville Technical College to support the creation of a lab for mobile hydraulics and lab curriculum.
The facility produces hydraulic components used in mobile construction, agricultural machinery, mining, materials handling and heavy industries, such as steel and automotive production.
