COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The estimated jackpot for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing has grown to $260 million.
For a chance to become a multi-millionaire, players must buy their tickets by 9:59 p.m. Wednesday. The drawing will air live on FOX Carolina an hour later.
The last time South Carolina sold a jackpot-winning ticket was August 2009, when Solomon Jackson Jr. won $259 million.
Players who match all five white balls but miss the Powerball can win $1 million.
The Power Play option, which costs an extra dollar on top of the $2 cost for the ticket, multiplies all winnings, with the exception of jackpots.
The odds of winning the top prize are steep - 1 in 176 million.
Wednesday night's top prize is far below the record Powerball jackpot of $587.5 million won during a drawing last November.
Officials at the South Carolina Education Lottery said they urge people to play responsibly.
