GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

CVS has put all employees on notice to reveal their weight or pay a monthly $50 penalty.

It's a new policy for employees who want to use the company's health insurance plan.  It will require all employees who use the health insurance to go through a health screening by May 1, and if they don't, they have to pay a $50 penalty a month to stay on their health insurance.

The screening will include testing for blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass and weight. Some may say this is an invasion of privacy, but Upstate attorney Grant Varner says think again.

"The times are changing.  We are about to see a whole new frontier of how organizations qualify and quantify employees for hiring purposes and healthcare purposes," said Grant.

Another part of this initiative will require smokers who work at CVS to be tobacco-free by May 1, 2014, or participate in a cessation program.
