GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Another frigid night is forecast for the western Carolinas before rain moves into the region for the weekend, according to FOX Carolina Chief Meteorologist Kendra Kent.
The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning from midnight to 9 a.m. Friday for all of the Upstate of South Carolina, northeast Georgia and McDowell, Polk and Rutherford counties in North Carolina.
Kent said temperatures Thursday night will plummet into the upper 20s in the Upstate and lower 20s in the mountains.
The unseasonably cool air stays in the region through the weekend, Kent said.
Kent said clouds will move into the region by Friday afternoon and rain will begin by the evening. She said the best chance of rain for the weekend will be Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The rain will be cold with highs hovering in the 50s for the whole weekend, Kent said.
