ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man surrendered after barricading himself inside an Anderson home Friday, requiring the SWAT team to come in to help with the standoff.

Lt. Tony Tilley with Anderson police said the man was inside a Collingwood Drive home alone. He said the standoff started as a domestic situation.

Dispatchers said the SWAT team was called in at 9:30 a.m.

Negotiators worked to get him out of the house and sent in a robot into the home, Tilley said.

FOX Carolina crews at the scene said the man came out of the home peacefully just before 1:15 p.m. and was talking to law enforcement at the scene.

Before the standoff ended, Tilley said police did not know if the man was armed. No evacuations were issued in the area as the situation was confined to right around the home, police said.

Tilley said the man had threatened to kill himself.
