ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Law enforcement officers in Anderson are working to find the driver of a pickup truck they said caused a police officer to flip his car Sunday.

Anderson police said the officer was driving on East River Street near Shockley Ferry Road just before 6 p.m. Sunday when a blue truck turned into the patrol car's path.

Police said the officer swerved and overturned while the truck took off. The car landed in front of the Chevron gas station.

"The police officer comes in, hit the post, flipped up in the air, landed on the roof almost," said witness Nick Parker. "It was bad."

Parker said the officer crawled out and authorities said he was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
