GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Dispatchers said deputies were called to an armed robbery outside of a Greer Dollar General Store Monday morning.

Spartanburg County deputies at the scene said two female employees were held at gunpoint and robbed outside of the store located on New Woodruff Road/Highway 101 about 7 a.m.

Lt. Tony Ivey, with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, said the robber met the women at the front door as they were leaving to go make a deposit. Ivey said he forced them back inside the store at gunpoint, making them empty the safe then stole their deposit bags.

Deputies said the robber fled towards Greer and Maple Street, but search dogs lost his track after searching for him.

With the help of Greer police, deputies said they were still patrolling the area looking for the robber and talking to anyone who may have seen him.

Ivey said the robber was reported wearing a dark coat over a white hoodie and jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
