BRYSON CITY, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Animal advocates are offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest after a dog was found inside a trash bag that had been tossed inside a dumpster in Bryson City last week.

Dawn Todd, a spokeswoman for Noah's Ark Companion Animal Hospital in Franklin, NC, said a man was putting his trash in the dumpster when he noticed a paw sticking out of a trash bag on March 20.

She said the man then saw a dog trying to poke its head out of the bag. Two dogs were found inside the dumpster, according to Todd. She said one of the dogs in the bag was dead, and the other was alive.

According to PETA, police have yet to make any arrest in connection with the 6-month-old pup's abuse. Todd said the dog, who was named Bryson after the city where he was found, suffered trauma to his face.

If anyone has information about Bryson's abuse, PETA asks that they call the Swain County Sheriff's Office at 828-488-0159.
