GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies were led on a short chase Thursday afternoon until they stopped the man on the campus of Berea High School.

Deputies said they were first called to a dispute at the Emerald Commons Apartment Complex located on White Horse Road at 1:05 p.m. after the 911 caller said a man was holding a gun to her "baby".

As they pulled up, deputies said the subject fled the scene in a Chevy Tahoe reported stolen from  Atlanta. Deputies began following the SUV until it crashed into a fence at Burdine Drive and Burdine Road.

They said the man jumped out and ran towards Berea High School where he was caught at the tennis courts less than 10 minutes after the first 911 call was made.

Deputies said they then went to look for the gun that the man reportedly had during the call about the "baby," and found the weapon along a nearby path.

Deputies said the baby was actually the caller's 22-year-old son.

No one was injured in the crash, but there were two kids under age 2 along with another man and woman in the SUV, deputies said.

A spokesperson for Greenville County Schools said the man hid in a restroom at the school's stadium where he was found and taken into custody. The spokesperson said the school did not go on lockdown.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing and have not yet released the subject's name or if any charges have been filed in the case.
