Coroner investigating Greenville death as homicide

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Coroner's Office is investigating a Greenville man's death after his body was found between two abandoned buildings Friday morning.

Coroner Barry Wright said 44-year-old Kevin Porter was found dead between the buildings along the 300 block of Stafford Street in the Dunean area.

Deputies said they were called at 7:16 a.m. when the body was found at McGarity Street and Stafford.

Wright said Porter died from a gunshot wound to the head. He said the case was being investigated as a homicide.

Master Deputy Laura Campbell, of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, said detectives are working to develop leads in the case.
