ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
FOX Carolina asked viewers Sunday how they celebrated Easter. Some said daybreak Easter church services, egg hunts or just spending time with friends and family with good food. But one family said they were celebrating the holiday in a unusual way - with a wedding.
Thirty-four years after they met, Upstate couple Donnie and Debbie Carver couldn't wait any longer to tie the knot.
"We dated in high school, he was my first love," said Debbie Carver. "He is my fairy tale."
The pair chose Easter Sunday to wed.
"Easter is a time for love, and we wanted to get married soon," said Donnie Carver.
Friends and family say they picked the perfect day.
"Easter's the No. 1 day of love," said the bride's son, Ricky Owens. "People say Valentine's Day, but people forget the No. 1 reason of Easter, the true meaning of love behind Easter."
