The Upstate is a prime area for biking and now bicyclists have a brand-new park to check out.

Gateway Park in Travelers Rest, SC recently opened multiple new trails for riders of all skill levels including a skills flow park, cross-country trail, figure-8 pump track and a youth skills development track.

The park was created in partnership with the Greenville Rec department, Trail Dynamics, Upstate SORBA and Greater Greenville Parks Foundation's Park Heroes volunteers.

It is located at 115 County Rd. 934 and has access to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. The park is open to the public and is free to ride.

To celebrate the opening of the new trails, Greenville Rec is hosting a Cyclebration at the park Saturday, April 6. Multiple distance rides will leave Gateway Park in Travelers Rest, including 70 and 40-mile rides for $50.

They'll also feature a 10-mile family ride, as well as a pump track jam for $20 each. Festivities kick off at 8 a.m. and will include route maps, lunch, a T-shirt and post-ride celebration.
