GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Piedmont man was charged Monday in connection with the death of a Greenville man whose body was found last week.

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Barry Wright said 44-year-old Kevin Porter was found dead between two buildings in the 300 block of Stafford Street in the Dunean area Friday morning.

Wright said Porter died from a gunshot wound to the head.

On Monday, Master Deputy Laura Campbell, of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, said investigators received a tip later Friday, which led to the arrest of 20-year-old Brandon Turner.

Campbell said Turner was arrested at Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he was being treated for an injury not related to the case.

Turner was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was being held by police at the hospital until he can be taken to the Greenville County Detention Center, Campbell said.

A mugshot was not immediately released.
