GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police are investigating a shooting that happened at a Greenville apartment complex though the victim ended up miles away at a Taylors apartment complex before he was hospitalized.

Greenville County deputies said they were first notified of a shooting at the Spring Grove Apartments in Taylors on Tuesday after a gunshot victim was taken to Greer Memorial Hospital.

Deputies said the victim was airlifted from Greer to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Investigators later learned that the man was not shot at the Taylors location but was been shot at an apartment complex on Shemwood Lane in the city limits, according to Johnathan Bragg with the Greenville Police Department.

Bragg said when officers were responded to a shooting on Shemwood, they did not find the victim there though shots were fired. He said they were able to trace the Taylors victim to the Shemwood shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation. Police did not say what the victim's condition was as of Wednesday morning.
