3 charged in Rutherford Co. bath salts investigation

RUTHERFORDTON, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Three business owners in Rutherford County have been charged after a nearly yearlong investigation into the sale of bath salts, according to deputies.

Investigators said that in July 2011, the synthetic drugs were confiscated from three business throughout the county after state law banned chemicals used to make bath salts. They said tests conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation confirmed the drugs were bath salts.

Tehsin Khan, owner of Mustang 2 in Forest City, was charged with possess with the intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance. He was released from jail on $15,000 bond.

Snehal Desai, owner of Sai Mart in Rutherfordton, was charged with trafficking. He was released form jail on $25,000.

Robert Cox, owner of Puff and Stuff in Forest City, was charged with posses with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance. He was released from jail on $15,000 bond.

Investigators also seized more than $7,000 from the businesses.
