GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Police said a man driving drunk through downtown Greenville hit several cars and a parking garage pay booth, among other objects, before he was arrested.
Johnathan Bragg, spokesman for the Greenville Police Department, said 35-year-old Jason Foster was leaving the parking garage on North Laurens Street about 11 p.m. Sunday when he hit the pay booth, two parked cars and then drove through the exit's "arm," breaking it as he left.
While driving along Laurens Street, Bragg said Foster ran off the road and onto the sidewalk, struck a tree and then continued to College Street where he turned right, going the wrong away with only three tires left on his car.
Headed the wrong way on one-way College Street, he hit another car at the intersection of Beattie and Church before eventually stopping at a parking lot about two blocks away, Bragg said.
At that point, Foster assaulted two passersby tried to stop him from driving before he was arrested, according to Bragg.
Foster was charged with two counts of hit-and-run with minor injury, driving under the influence, two counts of third-degree assault and battery and another driving offense.
