GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville police said while they were patrolling an apartment complex they respond to frequently they arrested a man who had illegal guns.

Greenville Police spokesman Johnathan Bragg said officers were on foot patrol at the Shemwood Crossing Apartments on Shemwood Lane at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday when they stopped to talk to 26-year-old Kelly Mayfield.

Bragg said Mayfield refused to answer the officers' request to give his name and birth date, becoming angry and resisted their commands.

Mayfield had drug paraphernalia and two loaded handguns, but did not have a concealed weapons permit, Bragg said. He said Mayfield was also considered a violent felon.

Mayfield was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession of a firearm by a violent felon and interfering with police.
