Firefighters have contained a pallet fire that burned Saturday afternoon in Laveen. People across the Valley reported seeing dark plumes of smoke as the fire spread across the property near 43rd Avenue and Broadway.
The fire was categorized as a three-alarm fire due to the need for additional water tankers because this property sits on a county island.
Jonathan Jacobs with the Phoenix Fire Department said most of the fire has been contained to the pallets, however, several structures on the property have been damaged by the flames. No one was injured.
The Phoenix Fire Department will remain at the property Saturday night to monitor the situation. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office will work to determine the cause of the fire.
