Masters final day bittersweet for locals and visitors

Posted: Updated:

It's the final day at Augusta National and many will be heading out of town soon; a reality that is bittersweet for many visitors and locals.

"It's just been great. A little bit of rain to kind of cool things off, said Warren Blodgett.  "And it's been wonderful play and food and all that kind of good stuff."

All that good stuff is coming to an end. The final round of the Masters tournament has golf fans realizing that Monday is just around the corner. Many people walking to their cars with memories they will never forget.

"I got to see some of the players up close when they got finished playing," said Callie Cramer.

"Just to be able to see somebody that I've watched on TV for so many years finally a golf ball and to just actually see what that looks like in real life was something else," said Mitchell Kelley.

Opportunities of a lifetime that these spectators hope to see again.

"I hope I get to come back one day," said Kelley.

"I think it was more than imagined it," said Cramer.

Cramer is a local Augustan who enjoyed her first Masters but said she is ready for the city to be back to normal.

"I have to drive to South Carolina everyday to get back to downtown Augusta because of all the traffic so I'm glad when the Masters is over so I can get back to my normal route," said Cramer.

Even local businesses are preparing for things to change. The general manager at the Partridge Inn said they've been booked at full capacity all week but most guests are scheduled to head out within the next twenty four hours.

"They'll spend tonight here and head back home tomorrow," David McCartney.

And as people begin to head out of town, what lies ahead for those staying in Augusta?

"I am personally looking forward to a little bit of sleep as I know my staff is as well," said McCartney.

A reality that is certainly in the near future for those that have worked hard to make Masters 2013 a success.
