GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg County bomb dog was called to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport Wednesday night after authorities said an unattended bag and gas can were found outside on a curb.

Rosylin Weston, the spokesperson for GSP, said an unattended bag was left on a curb that had a gas can inside, between the parking garage and baggage claim.

Weston said one of the airport officers saw the bag, picked it up and noticed a funnel and a rag.

As a precaution, authorities cleared the area but said there was no immediate threat.

She said airport officials called in a bomb dog from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office to check it out as a precaution, given all that's gone on recently. She said the airport's bomb dog was away for training.

"We certainly took an unattended bag seriously," Weston said.

She said a woman claimed the bag but the curb remained cleared at the airport with no cars in the area just before 9 p.m.

GSP resumed normal operations during the incident.

Weston said GSP police were interviewing her to understand what happened and why she had a gas can at the airport. She said she was not currently under arrest.

Weston said the bomb dogs deemed the bag to be safe.
