JONESVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Jonesville Mayor Ernest Moore Jr. has been arrested for soliciting the services of an undercover Union County operative, according to the sheriff's office.

According to arrest reports, the operative arranged to meet Moore to discuss exchanging cash for sexual favors.

The report states the two met at a specific location on Wednesday, and deputies obtained audio and video evidence of Moore offering the operative $50 to perform a sexual service.

Moore was arrested on one count of prostitution on Thursday afternoon.

He was released from jail a few hours later.

Jonesville police Chief J. S. Kimbrell says Moore has not yet resigned from his post.

Moore said an emergency Town Council meeting was held Thursday evening to determine how the town would move forward in wake of these allegations.

Phone calls placed to Town Council members in order to learn the outcome of this meeting were not immediately returned Thursday night.
