SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Animal Control officers said a woman was attacked by a dog when she went to tell its owners to keep it on their Spartanburg property on Tuesday.

According to Jamie Nelson, director of Spartanburg County Environmental Control, a 2-year-old pitbull was running around the neighborhood of Southstar and South streets most of Tuesday but had returned to its yard.

A neighbor went to the house to tell the people to keep their dog on their property when the dog attacked the neighbor, biting her on the face, neck and thigh, Nelson said.

The woman was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment. Officers did not have any info about her condition.

Nelson said the dog's owner will be charged and the dog will be kept in quarantine for 10 days while they check it out.
