EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said a man and a woman were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside a room at the Sun Inn along Highway 123 Saturday afternoon.

Kelley said signs seem to point toward a murder-suicide scenario, but investigators are still trying to determine the reasoning for the shooting.

Kelley identified the victims as 77-year-old Robert McPeak Sr., of Iva, and 39-year-old Cristy Ingram, of Piedmont.

Pickens County deputies said the cleaning staff found the victims and recovered a gun in the room. The gun and evidence was sent to the state's lab for analysis.

Kelley said McPeak shot Ingram and then turned the gun on himself.

Kelley hopes the autopsies conducted on Monday will help determine exactly what happened.
