COLUMBUS, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a woman hit a man with her car, then he got in with her as they led authorities on a two-town chase before crashing on Wednesday.

Chief Deputy Michael Wheeler, with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, said it all started about 8:15 a.m. when a deputy spotted a woman hit a man with a car in the parking lot of the Texaco on Main Street in Columbus.

The woman backed up then hit the man again, knocking him into a bench and fence, Wheeler said.

He said the man then got into the car and they drove off, so the deputy turned on his blue lights to try and stop them. They gave chase, fleeing from deputies, North Carolina troopers, Columbus and Tryon police, Wheeler said.

As the car headed back towards South Carolina, Wheelers said the driver lost control, flipping and crashing the car. He said both were injured and taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

Wheeler said the car they were in was stolen from Greenville and they were also wanted in Spartanburg County.

Polk County deputies said they would seek multiple warrants for both suspects, identified as 29-year-old Melissa Crane and 32-year-old Bradley Cox, once they were released from Spartanburg County custody.
