Beaufort hosts 'Idol' finalist Glover's homecoming

BEAUFORT, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Proudly representing South Carolina to millions across the country, news that Beaufort's own Candice Glover had made it to the final three on American Idol quickly spread across the state.

With Glover making American Idol's top three Thursday, the town announced several plans to celebrate the St. Helena Island native's success on the popular FOX Network singing competition.

Glover flew into town Friday night, landing about 9 p.m. at Signature Flight Support in Savannah. Fans arrived early with signs to cheer her arrival.

Following Glover's arrival home, the city held a parade and concert for Saturday.

At 5 p.m., the parade flowed through town ending with a concert at 7 p.m. concert at the corner of Charles and Bay streets. Thousands were expected to attend.

Gov. Nikki Haley rode in the parade and named May 4 "Candice Glover Day" throughout the state.

Glover will compete in the final three during American Idol, which airs Wednesday and Thursday nights on FOX Carolina.
