More Showers & Storms on the Way

Posted: Updated:

First off, there's no way that the scattered rain which will come down tomorrow and Wednesday will duplicate or even come close to matching the washout conditions we experienced on Saturday night and Sunday.

A weakening upper level low pressure center will gradually meander from southeast TN/north Georgia into the Carolinas on Tuesday.  Even though this upper low will be weakening, our chances for rain will hang around as scattered rain showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible.

Tuesday:  Expect 50s in the morning with more clouds than sun and spotty showers.  By the afternoon, there will be a good chance for scattered, brief downpours if you're town is caught underneath any storm that develops.  Also, these thunderstorms will be capable of producing pea-size hail (which will be under severe storm limits) and also gusty winds.  A few severe thunderstorm warnings will be possible due to the potential for gusty winds under any storm, but unlikely to happen where you live.  High temperatures will reach the low-middle 60s.  There should be some rays of sun at times tomorrow, but we'll likely see more clouds than sunshine.

Wednesday: We'll hold onto the chance of a few pockets of rain and some storms under a mostly cloudy sky.  There should be some sunshine at times as temperatures warm into the upper 60s and low 70s.

We Stay Cool:  There may be a day or two where we approach 80° late this week, but we'll cool down again this weekend as our streak of below-normal temperatures continues.  That's surprising considering the middle of May is about a week away.
