HARTWELL, GA (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in northeast Georgia said they were led on a massive manhunt looking for two fugitives from Seneca.

Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday his deputies were chasing the pair when they abandoned a green van and fled on foot.

For the next several hours, authorities searched for the two who were eventually found armed with loaded handguns, Cleveland said. Cleveland said the Georgia State Patrol helicopter with infrared camera led to the suspects' arrests.

He said nearly 100 officers from Lavonia, Hartwell, Franklin County, Habersham County, Anderson County, SC, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Department of Corrections, Georgia Probation and Georgia Bureau of Investigations assisted in the search.

Cleveland said they arrested 29-year-old Brandon Arnold and 25-year-old Heather Frankum. He said he was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

A spokesperson at the Hart County Sheriff's Office said Frankum was charged with obstruction of an officer.

Oconee County deputies said Arnold was wanted on two drug charges. According to his warrants, he distributed methamphetamine and Xanax to an undercover operative.
