An Upstate woman said she is devastated after someone shot her two dogs at her home, leaving one of them paralyzed.
Joanne Rendon said the dogs were shot last week at her Pueblo Street home in Spartanburg while she slept.
Rendon said on May 1, she let her dogs Waylan and Puppy out about 5 a.m. to use the bathroom in her gated yard and when she woke up to check on them, they were missing and the gate was busted open.
She said she found Puppy underneath a tree in her front yard and he had been shot.
Waylan was nowhere to be found until five days later, a neighbor spotted him.
"He was laying down; he couldn't move," Rendon said.
Rendon works as a veterinary technician and knew both dogs had serious injuries. She said X-rays showed Puppy was shot through his hips while Waylan was shot four times. One of the bullets hit his spine.
Spartanburg County deputies came out to Rendon's home on Thursday to take pictures of the injuries and Rendon gave him a shotgun pellet pulled from one of the dogs.
Rendon said she is focused on nursing her dogs back to health and hopefully with the help of deputies, catching whoever shot them.
"They could possibly be in my neighborhood or your's and someone like that doesn't need to be out around us," Rendon said.
According to the most recent update on Rendon's website about Waylan's recovery, he will undergo extensive therapy, and they don't know if he will ever walk again.
Deputies ask anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
