Former ASU and NFL quarterback Andrew Walter has announced his candidacy for Congress in Arizona's 9th District.

Walter is an Arizona native, born in Scottsdale and currently resides and works in Congressional District 9.

After leaving the NFL at age 27, Andrew earned an MBA at ASU's WP Carey School of Business and currently serves as the managing partner of the senior secured business lending firm Andrew Walter Holdings.

During his candidacy announcement Walter emphasized the need for new political leadership saying, "Our nation has reached a precipice. We face irresponsible spending and unsustainable debt, chronic unemployment and a broken education system. Career politicians are taking us down the path of financial ruin. It's time to send commonsense leaders to Congress."
