EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police said a shoplifter hit an Easley Dollar General Store employee with his car as he left from the store on Wednesday.

Easley police said the Pelzer Highway store's employee saw the suspect, 57-year-old Murray Holloway, put some medicine in his pocket before buying a box of allergy medicine. Then Holloway left the store, picked up some lawn chairs that were for sale outside and headed to his car, police said.

At that point, the worker took a picture of Holloway's license plate and started to call 911, according to the police report. The employee told police he saw two lawn chairs in Holloway's car.

When Holloway realized the man was calling police, he became angry and demanded to pay, threw the chairs out of his car then went to leave, according to the report.

Police said Holloway backed up, did a three-point turn and hit the employee with his car. The man kicked the car's front bumper so he wouldn't be run over, police said.

Police spotted Holloway's car as it was leaving the store and pulled him over in the parking lot of a nearby elementary school, the report said. Officers said they found a foot print on the bumper.

Holloway told police he had bought allergy medicine and as he left the store, picked up two chairs and set them by his car then went back inside to pay, but the worker wouldn't let him, the report stated.

Holloway then went to leave and said the worker kicked his car as he pulled away, police said.

Police arrested Holloway on charges of shoplifting and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
